Thought of the Day…. What am I getting?

Martial arts is a funny thing you have groups of people doing different things for different reasons self defence, fitness or wanting to be the next champion of the world. Some do fancy Flying kicks with a spinny thing and others use a double leg to smash you until you quit.
With MMA becoming more and more popular across the UK because PR machine that is the UFC, it is gaining more and more exposure and with this new found popularity more people want a piece of the cake.
Team Fulinkazan’s classes have never been so busy, it seems with each class we get a couple of new guys coming down to learn MMA … well most of the time they tell me the want to learn UFC ;-), but there are also a lot of new clubs opening offering MMA as well.
This is not me trying to slag other teams off but more bit of advice for people who wanting to start out in MMA, I have spent years travelling around different clubs and here are some of the lessons I have learned:-
1.What do I want from my training?
You need to be honest with yourself do you really want to go through lots of pain and sacrifice? You will ache and be hurt most of the time… still want to be a fighter?
2.Yes ... I want to be a fighter
Well you will need people to train/spar with. How good a fighter do you want to be? Great fighters train with great Fighters, Randy says it best “Steel sharpens steel”.
3.I have found a club, but we don’t spar and no one from the club competes.
Fighters fight … if you don’t test your self you can’t tell if your improving.
Might make sense .... might not ... who cares?
